22nd October – Pakatan Harapan unveils that they will zero rate all items for GST taxation in Malaysia under their 2016 Alternative Budget. This will effectively remove the needs to pay GST for all items. Pakatan Harapan however will not abolish GST as the data from the taxation system can help in tax and market analysis. Pakatan says the 30 billions revenue collected from GST can be offset with close sure of several unproductive government link companies.
According to PKR secetary general Rafizi Ramli one of the man behind the alternative budget, abolishing the GST will lead to waste as the current government already spent 5 billion into implementing the new GST system.
