A video of health workers threatened with a machete wielding man during fogging exercise has surfaced in the social media lately. Based on the video, the incident happened at Ayer Hitam, Penang. The incident happened at 1st July, where workings from Ministry of Health was fogging in the area for dengue mosquitoes.
The man was angry as there were no early notification for the fogging exercise. The man threatened the workers with machete and asked “What if something happens to my children”. From the video, the man’s family is still in their house when the fogging was performed by the health workers. The workers have maintained that they have given alerts before doing any fogging
Dengue fever has been on the rise in Malaysia with states such as Johor recording 80 percent jump in dengue cases. Spike in dengue cases are also expected with dry season and coming festive season.
