Body of 2 sisters burnt to death found cuddled together

MALACCA:  Two sisters were burnt to death in a fire in Taman Tanjung Minyak, Melaka on Oct 23. The charred remains of seven-year-old Nur Maisarah Balqis and her sister Nur Qalisha Balqis, six, were found cuddled together under the bed by rescuers from Jalan Kubu Fire and Rescue Department at about 6pm that day. They were believed to be trying to hide from the fire.

The sisters were alone in their house when the fire happened around 5:30pm.  Their father, Rosghazali Shafiee, in his 30s, suffered burns on 20% of his body when he tried frantically to save his children. The room door was locked from the inside and the sisters were screaming for help when the fire was at its height, but their father and neighbours could not break the door down.
